A local family lost their 3-year-old daughter about 18 months ago due to a rare and unexpected medical condition. As a tribute to their daughter, they installed a small display in their front yard.

Last month, someone stole the display from their yard and while reviewing reports, Sergeant Mark Eakes, the supervisor of Lakewood PD’s Community Policing Section, noticed the theft.  He then contacted the Lakewood Officers’ Charity, who was able to find a replacement for the family.  Now a 2-foot tall palm tree stands in their yard, as the family likes to be reminded their daughter is in “Paradise”.
